Fikr Ventures Backs AILA in a US$3 Million Pre-Series A to Scale AI-Native Learning
Fikr Ventures joins a US$3 million Pre-Series A round in Saudi EdTech company AILA, led by Rua Growth Fund, backing an AI-native platform that personalizes learning for every student
Fikr Ventures has participated in a US$3 million Pre-Series A investment in AILA, the Saudi education technology company building AI-native personalized learning. The round was led by Rua Growth Fund, with Jo Academy joining as a strategic investor, alongside 500 Global, Bunat Ventures, and Fikr Ventures.
Founded in 2023 by Yousef Alsayed and Abdulaziz Bin Mugayel, AILA develops technology that identifies where a student is actually struggling and responds to it: pinpointing learning gaps, tailoring assessment and practice to the individual learner, and turning the resulting data into performance insights that teachers and school leaders can act on. Its products include AILA Tests, an exam preparation platform, and AILA Labs, the company's research and development hub. AILA was named by HolonIQ and QS Quacquarelli Symonds among the top 50 EdTech companies in MENA in 2024, selected from more than 1,500 startups across the region.

The new capital will support expansion into regional and international markets, further development of AILA's AI-powered learning capabilities, and reaching more students, educators, schools, and education systems.
For Fikr Ventures, the investment sits squarely within the fund's thesis. Fikr backs seed and early-stage EdTech founders across the Middle East and North Africa who are building learning technology designed for the region rather than adapted to it. AILA is a clear expression of that: an Arabic-first, AI-native platform built by a Saudi team for the classrooms, curricula, and examinations that students in this region actually sit.
The round also brings together a group of investors whose strengths compound. Rua Growth Fund leads with Saudi growth-stage depth, Jo Academy contributes operating experience from one of Jordan's largest digital learning platforms, and 500 Global and Bunat Ventures add regional and global network reach. Fikr Ventures joins as the EdTech-dedicated investor in the round, bringing sector focus, mentorship, and a network built specifically around education founders in MENA.
